Billion Dollar Babies is ‘a state of the nation’ about the tech scene in Edinburgh with the founders and leading executives of some of Scotland’s biggest tech startups talking about their aspirations. In the selected
audience will be funders, advisors, experts and policy makers chosen to contribute to this critical discussion about Scotland’s economic future.

Nigel Eccles

Nigel is the co-founder and CEO of Hubdub Ltd, a venture backed gaming company with offices in Edinburgh, New York and San Francisco. The company launched its first game at DEMO 08 and was selected in 2008 as one of the U.K.’s top 20 web companies. The company’s second game, FanDuel is a the leading daily fantasy sports game providing fantasy sports leagues that last just one day. It enables consumers to draft fantasy sports teams at any time in head-to-head or multi-player contests. Players pay an entry fee for each contest and vie for cash prizes. It now has around 100,000 players with 10,000 new players joining each week. Prior to Hubdub Nigel launched the Flutter.com betting exchange (acquired by Betfair) and re-launched the Betdaq betting exchange. Additionally, he was a consultant with McKinsey & Co for four years and was formerly on the management board of Johnston Press plc.

Mark Noe

Mark is a Managing Director / CEO with 17 years experience, founder of international brand consultancy, Marque. He was also a partner in international communications group, Starworks Group, of which Marque was wholly owned, and managed creative strategy and output, in New York, Glasgow, London and Los Angeles.   Mark has headed many international brand projects for clients such as The Macallan, LK Bennett, David Collins, Baccarat, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, The Chicago Spire, Smythson, RBS, Haunch of Venison, Dow Jones and Mubadala. In June 2012 Mark joined Mobile Acuity as the CEO of Mobile Acuity, a world leading provider of Mobile Visual Search technology. Mobile Acuity is a technology company whose patented software bridges the gap between online and offline media, creating real time solutions linking digital, social, commerce and marketing activity to printed material or objects — through mobile devices, while maintaining the integrity of brand message without needing QR codes. The company was incorporated in January 2006 as a spinout of the University of Edinburgh, the leading UK University in Computer Science and Informatics. As CEO Mark is helping to drive the business into a new era post venture capital investment in January 2012 and implementing sales
and marketing strategies in Europe, USA and Asia.


Gordon Guthrie

Gordon is CEO/CTO at vixo.com - like spreadsheets but better. Back in Web 1.0 he was Chief Technical Architect at if.com which shifted £18bn worth of financial products.

Turing Festival

Turing is a non profit festival bringing together digital technology and the web in a celebration of digital culture and creativity. Named in honour of Alan Turing, the festival moves beyond traditional tech conferences to explore the ways in which technology is affecting all aspects of culture and society.  The festival is collaboration between the Interreg IVB NWE funded Open Innovation Project, The City of Edinburgh Council and Interactive Scotland.
